Welcome to the Lion Hotel – a lovely, family-run former coaching inn located in the middle of a picturesque little country town.

Our hotel is full of character – with log fires going in the colder months, oak beam bars, creaky floors, and antique antlers on the walls.  We are situated in the heart of Dulverton in Exmoor National Park. This lovely country town has a lot to offer to its visitors. There are several traditional tea rooms, small shops and also a museum and the Exmoor National Park Visitor Centre for you to explore. A farmers’ market is held during summer on every last Saturday of the month.  In the evening you can dine at one of the great restaurants in town, at a local pub and of course at our own restaurant. We offer home-cooked meals using local produce. Since we are running the kitchen by ourselves and everything is freshly prepared, reservations are highly appreciated. The Lion Hotel is an ideal base to explore stunning Exmoor, lots of Devon and Exeter. The historic Tarr Steps are close by as well as the Exmoor Pony Centre and Wimbleball Lake. Trips within a reasonable distance by car would include Lynton, Lynmouth, Porlock or Minehead.  The Lion Hotel has 13 unique bedrooms, all of them are en-suite and furnished in the style of the hotel with traditional and antique furniture and comfortable beds.

The Lion Hotel is a unique grade II listed former coaching inn surrounded by dramatic countryside at the entrance to the beautiful rolling hills of Exmoor. There are several waymarked walks around Dulverton which take you along the Barle River or up to the higher moors.

The Lion Hotel is very dog friendly. Your best friend is allowed in most areas of the hotel including rooms, bar, lounge & restaurant.
