Exmoor National Park
Exmoor was designated as a National Park in 1954. National Parks have been chosen as special protected areas because of their beautiful countryside, wildlife and history. National Parks are living, working landscapes: the home to thousands of people and the factory floor for many farmers.
Exmoor National Park is a haven of peace and tranquillity, but also brimful of outdoor activities for get up and go adventurers who want to enjoy a more active Exmoor. Feel the open space of heather topped moorland, catch a glimpse of wild red deer or iconic Exmoor ponies, explore mysterious and very special woodlands, find your new favourite village pub, or marvel at a unique landscape shaped by people and nature over thousands of years.
Exmoor National Park was Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve. Exmoor is home to some of the darkest skies in the country! On a clear night, the night sky of Exmoor is absolutely stunning; with many amazing astronomical sights seen with the naked eye and even more to be discovered through binoculars or a telescope.
With so much to do, you’ll have to visit moor than once!
