Incredibly popular with walkers, ramblers and hikers, picturesque paths and wonderful walking routes criss cross the whole area ready for the family to explore on foot. There are of course still places you can get utterly lost in and escape the masses, up in the glorious Quantock Hills or on wild and windy Exmoor.
There are challenging routes for bigger kids and gentler rambles for little legs to enjoy, plus step/stile free accessible trails for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Pack some lunch and supplies, pull on those walking shoes and find a beautiful route to explore for every day of your Exmoor getaway.
Why not explore “The Salt Path”, a popular book by Raynor Winn which has since been adapted into a film and tells the story of Raynor and her husband, Moth, who end up walking the South West Coast Path after losing everything. Along the way, Exmoor’s stunning cliffs, hidden coves, and sweeping moorland feature prominently – retrace their steps here!
