About

Holmbush is a lovely family house, set right in the middle of Exmoor, with stunning panoramic views of Withypool Hill moorland and the wooded River Barle valley. Furnished as a comfortable and practical holiday home, Holmbush has been enjoyed by four generations of the same family for nearly 90 years.

Standing alone in 40 acres, the property consists of a large, spacious, early 1900s detached, dog-friendly house, with a garden to enjoy the spectacular views. It sleeps 10 people in five bedrooms, and there are two showers, two baths and three WCs. There is a large, well-equipped kitchen with an Aga, pantry and utility room, sitting room with open fireplace, dining room and playroom. Holmbush also offers DIY stabling with a paddock for those wanting to bring horses. This is an extremely roomy, homely holiday house, and is a haven of peace and privacy in this glorious part of Somerset. Holmbush is the perfect venue for an Exmoor walking or riding holiday.

The picturesque little village of Withypool, with its friendly pub, village shop and tearoom, is less than half a mile away on foot. Nearby is the famous medieval ‘clapper’ bridge at Tarr Steps, en route to the delightful small town of Dulverton. Further afield, there are many attractions to suit all tastes including the National Trust’s Dunster Castle, the scenic Doone Valley and the West Somerset Steam Railway. An expedition to the seaside at Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton or Minehead makes for a comfortable day trip.
