Marketing Checklist
It is important to keep all your marketing channels up to date, ensuring when visitors are searching for places to stay, things to do or places to eat, they are finding you! Below is a quick list of things to periodically check, ensuring you are communicating the very latest information.

- Are your opening hours up to date on your website? Make sure your opening days and hours are up to date on not only your own website but also on any Google business pages and your Visit Exmoor business listing.
- Is your contact information up to date? Check your contact email and phone number is correct. Ensure you have a clear instructions on how best to contact your business. If visitors should book in advance, make sure you have details on how they should best do this.
- Review your blog and news pages. It doesn't look good to view a website and find the last blog or news item was a year ago! Regular updates are great for Google searches and they are an opportunity to tell visitors about any offers, news or events.
- Do you have any new accreditations or awards (South West Tourism Award, TripAdvisor Travellers Choice)? Ensure these are clearly set out on your website with the logos and some information about the accreditation or award and what it means to you to have been awarded this. We will also happily list them on your Visit Exmoor business listing, just let us know.
- Are you hosting any events or doing any special offers? Let us know! We are here to support your marketing and will gladly promote these on our social media channels. We have dedicated Exmoor Events calendar (and a new Facebook Group) and we also have a Special Offers page, which we regularly promote. In addition, if you offer Gift Vouchers, we list these. Just send over your links and we can get you added.
- Make sure you are active on social media. It can be really difficult to keep on top of posting out on social media, particularly when you are busy. However, it is an important way to reach potential customers. Photos are always a great way to show off your business and you can also always share posts from Visit Exmoor or other channels e.g. Exmoor Magazine and Exmoor National Park.
- Is your Visit Exmoor business listing up to date? Your business profile on Visit Exmoor can be updated at any time. Please review your page(s) and get in touch if you would like to update any of the content and/or add new images. If you want any help with copywriting or would like some advice for how to best build your page, please get in touch. We welcome 200k unique visitors to the website every year so it is important your listing is accurate. Please send any updates to: membership@visit-exmoor.co.uk.
- If you are an accommodation provider, are you listed on our accommodation availability platform? As a Gold Member or higher, you can add your live availability to our website. It syncs directly with your booking engine, so your calendar stays up to date automatically – and your property appears instantly in search results. It increases your visibility with people that want to stay.
- Would you like a shout out on the Visit Exmoor social media channels? As part of your membership, we promote your business on our social media channels. Get in touch if you would like to tell our audience about any events, promotions or offers you are doing, or any availability you would like to fill. We have over 34,000+ social media followers - we are here to support your business - please make the most of this!
