PRESS RELEASE
16 October 2026
Visit Exmoor is inviting residents and visitors to get out and explore this weekend with a brand new Exmoor Day Challenge, featuring 25 ways to discover and celebrate everything that makes Exmoor special.
Exmoor Day takes place annually on 19 October, marking the anniversary of Exmoor’s designation as a National Park in 1954. It is an opportunity to celebrate the area’s spectacular landscapes, wildlife, coastline, heritage and the vibrant communities and businesses that make Exmoor such a special place to live, work and visit.
This year, Visit Exmoor has launched the Exmoor Day Challenge 2026, encouraging everyone to get outside, discover somewhere new and experience more of what Exmoor has to offer.
With 25 activities to choose from, the challenge offers inspiration for all ages and interests. From exploring the countryside and spotting wildlife to discovering local attractions, enjoying Exmoor’s fantastic food and drink or visiting somewhere new, there are plenty of ways to take part.
The challenge is designed to be flexible, with participants encouraged to complete as many activities as they wish over the weekend leading up to Exmoor Day on Monday 19 October.
Emma Thomasson, Chief Executive of Visit Exmoor, said:
“Exmoor Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that makes this area so special. We are incredibly fortunate to have such extraordinary landscapes, beautiful coastline, fantastic local produce and wonderful towns and villages, all supported by the people and businesses who make Exmoor what it is.
“This year, we wanted to do something a little different and encourage everyone to get out and experience Exmoor for themselves. Whether you live here, visit regularly or are discovering Exmoor for the first time, our 25 challenges offer plenty of inspiration.
“It’s also a great opportunity to support our local businesses, discover somewhere new and enjoy everything Exmoor has to offer. You don’t need to complete all 25 challenges. Just get involved, have some fun and share what you love about Exmoor!”
