Doone Country is based around the small hamlet of Malmsmead on the Badgworthy Water. This area was the setting for the Lorna Doone story written by RD Blackmore in 1869. A delightful 4.5 mile return walk upstream from Malmsmead takes you to Cloud Farm where you can get ice-creams. Continuing upstream brings you to the water-slide where the Lank Combe Water meets the Badgworthy Water. Further upstream brings you to the site of a medieval village and the possible site of where the Doone’s lived.
Facilities: Tearoom at Malmsmead and ice-creams available from Cloud Farm. Car park, toilets.
