An ancient clapper bridge possibly dating back to 1000BC. It is a Grade 1 listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument. It crossed the River Barle about 6.5 miles upstream from Dulverton. In recent years the swollen river has dislodged the 1-2 ton slabs which have been carefully replaced into their original positions.
Facilities: Tarr Farm Inn provides drinks, food and light refreshments. There is a delightful 1.8 mile, 1 hour walk upstream to cross by a footbridge to return the other side of the river. This is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with the chance of seeing red deer, dormice, otters and bats, but mainly at dawn or dusk.
