Surfside Kayak Hire and Tours was established in 2008 and is located in the seaside village of Combe Martin nestled in the western edge of Exmoor. All our kayak guides are British Canoeing trained and qualified paddle sport leaders, with over 30 years’ experience in sea kayaking and adventure sports. All our guides are are trained in First Aid.

Our Tours

Here at Surfside we know what makes a great kayak tour! There is a guided kayak tour to suit everyone, whether you are an expert paddler or total novice, we will endeavour to make your kayaking adventure safe and memorable! 

One-Hour Mini Tour

Our kayak tours start with the one-hour mini-tour, great for beginners and families with younger children. We have discovered through years of experience that for most young children one hour on the water is enough for them. Surfside tour guides are all experienced full-time kayakers, and are experienced at guiding families on the water, ensuring your safety and enjoyment. BOOK YOUR TOUR TODAY!

Two-Hour Scenic Tour

Our most popular sea kayak tour, a two-hour scenic tour to explore the stunning scenery and coastline of Combe Martin Bay and Exmoor National Park. You’ll view the Hangman hills the highest sea cliffs in mainland Britain along the way. There is ample time to look out for the local wildlife including various seabirds such as fulmars, oystercatchers and cormorants. There are peregrine falcons nesting in the sea cliffs and in the water we have regular sightings of, dolphins, porpoise, sunfish, and seals. You will get to visit small secluded beaches, coves, secret inlets, and hidden caves many of which can only be reached by kayak. BOOK YOUR TOUR TODAY!

Bespoke Tours

We also offer bespoke tours such as an evening kayak tour. Combe Martin has the most stunning sunsets from May to August and to be out kayaking in the evening is an incredible experience! We also offering a longer three-hour tour aimed at the more experienced kayaker or for some of our customers that have been on the two-hour tour and would like to go that bit further afield. All our kayak tours are tailored to the customer’s requirements and abilities; we take individuals and groups of up to twenty plus.

We provide changing facilities onsite and all equipment is included in the price of the tour. We have the latest kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for hire. We offer bespoke private tours for birthdays, hen and stag parties.

SUP and Kayak Hire

Hiring your Sit On Top Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) from Surfside Kayak Hire, could not be easier. All our kayaks are of the latest design, making them very stable with excellent tracking, and a pleasure to paddle. Our kayaks are fitted with seats and backrests.

SUP is an extremely peaceful way to enjoy the North Devon coastline and great for all the family. Make the most of the fantastic flat water that we get in our bay and give stand up paddle boarding a go. It is one of those water sports that does not take much to get started, with just a few pointers and one of our super stable inflatable boards probably the best stand up paddle boards available then you’re ready to go. We will give you all the help and advice that you need.

In our retail shop we have the largest selection of fishing tackle in the area.
