Hestercombe House near Taunton is hosting two screenings of Julien Temple’s ‘Pandaemonium’ to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary this September.

Starring John Hannah as William Wordsworth and Linus Roache as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the film is a passionate story of poetry, love, betrayal and addiction, much of which was filmed on The Quantock Hills and Exmoor, including scenes shot in the gardens at Hestercombe.

Presented by Screen Somerset and Hestercombe House and Gardens, the screenings at 2pm and 7pm will take place in one of the main house’s stunning, wood panelled rooms – the first time the historic building has hosted such an event. The evening screening will be introduced by its acclaimed director who lives in Somerset (subject to availability).

Innovative and stylish, Pandaemonium also stars Samantha Morton as Coleridge’s wife Sara, Emily Woof as Wordsworth sister Dorothy, with a supporting cast including Andy Serkis, Dexter Fletcher and Sam West.

As well as the pear pond at Hestercombe, the film shot at locations including Wills Neck, Kilve Beach, Nether Stowey and West Bagborough, and the Holnicote Estate on Exmoor.

In the run up to the screenings, Hestercombe will also be hosting the ‘Julien Temple – A Life in Film’ exhibition. Previously appearing Somerset Film’s Engine Room in Bridgwater it is a unique collection of paraphernalia celebrating the work of the pioneering director of documentaries, rockumentaries, music videos and feature films.

The matinee performance will have a brief introduction by the Friends of Coleridge.
