‘Moor Christmas’ with Exmoor Character Cottages!

Christmas is never long enough and so it makes perfect sense to start the season early! Exmoor Character Cottages have developed ‘Moor Christmas’ to give guests the opportunity to come together and relax with family and friends and enjoy the festivities. Any stay in Exmoor Character Cottages is extra special and even more so when the cottages are all decked out with twinkly seasonal delights to warm the heart and soothe weary souls. Our Minehead cottages are extra special with hot tubs and private gardens to relax in with a glass of festive bubbly.

At Exmoor Character Cottages, the festive season starts from 19th November 2021 when each of our cottages come decked out with Christmas trees, door wreaths, hand-made stockings, baubles and fairy lights, a basket of logs for the fire and delicious scrummy festive treats on the Welcome Tray. Warm and welcoming anytime but extra special for families and friends to look forward to especially after a year of being apart.

Make ‘Moor’ of the Season!

And this year for the first time we are offering all guests the option to book ‘Moor Festive Treats’ from our private Chef Ben’s Traditional Christmas Menu prepared at your cottage, to fun practical wreath making workshops for the adults and Santa’s Elf will bring an unforgettable experience in your cottage for the kids. See the website for Moor Christmas options. Christmas is all about make believe and you can have fun creating your own Christmas itinerary! Decide when you want the festivities to commence, and tailor your stay to celebrate with a festive feast with our private Chef Ben or savour a fork banquet after the kids have gone to bed after putting out the sherry and a mince pie for Santa, not forgetting the carrot for Rudolph of course!

Carry-on with the make believe with a brisk Christmas morning walk after opening the presents and return to your cottage for the traditional lunch cooked in our well-equipped and spacious kitchens by Chef Ben if you prefer. If you are donning the apron, then Exmoor is full of superb local food and drink producers who will be happy to supply the turkey and all the trimmings and more besides for the feasts. And afterwards just immerse yourself in the cosiest of cottages in front of a roaring log fire with a glass or two.

Magical Experiences across Exmoor

And if you want to venture out of your festive cottage there are more magical experiences in store for all the family to enjoy. Christmas shopping is easy with an array of independent shops bursting with unique presents by local artists and crafts, markets packed with local food and drink, the magnificence of Dunster Castle atop the hill, and Santa Trains for the kids. And Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip out on the frosty landscape, where you might just catch a glimpse of the Exmoor Deer! And if you stand still and listen, you might just hear the jingle bells!
