Exmoor Day is fast approaching. October 19th marks an annual celebration of Exmoor, established as a means of showcasing the National Park’s special and unique area. The 19th October is the anniversary of the area’s designation as a National Park in 1954. Over recent years the date has become a particularly important online event for Visit Exmoor, the National Park Authority and the many businesses and residents that call Exmoor home.
Emma Thomasson, CEO for Visit Exmoor said “On Exmoor Day we celebrate the unique and inspiring landscapes of Exmoor. There is a reason that so many people visit Exmoor and our National Park throughout the seasons. We want to inspire more people to visit the stunning landscapes, breath-taking coastline and vibrant communities that make this a very special place.”
“The public are invited to join the online celebrations by sharing their favourite pictures and places to visit using the hashtag #ExmoorDay, continued Emma, “last year there was an incredible response and it was great to see people from all over the country expressing their love of Exmoor.”
Dan James, Rural Enterprise Manager at Exmoor National Park Authority said “Every year, Exmoor attracts in excess of two million visitors from all corners of the world to see the spectacular landscapes, experience distinctive wildlife, and to enjoy the wide range of attractions and local produce available. Businesses are offering some fantastic deals, special offers and Exmoor- focussed menus for your enjoyment.”
“Visitors to the Exmoor National Park Centres at Lynmouth, Dulverton and Dunster can benefit from a 10% discount using the code EXMOORDAY for purchases made on 19th October, as well as online at shop.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk” added Dan.
