Event Details

The Trio Sōra comprises Pauline Chenais (piano), Amanda Favier (violin) and Angèle Legasa (‘cello).

Invited to perform in prestigious venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, Bonn’s Beethoven-Haus, Verbier Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium du Louvre, Folle Journée de Nantes, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Trio Sōra is a charismatic ensemble recognised for its daring interpretations.

Honored with numerous awards in international competitions – Hans Gal Prize (2021), Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship (2020), Laureates of the Charles Oulmont Prize (2020), Special Prize of the Verbier Festival Academy (2018), HSBC Laureates of the Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (2017), Parkhouse Award (2017) – the Trio has benefited for several years from collaborations with great masters such as Mathieu Herzog, András Schiff, Menahem Pressler, the Ebony Quartet and the Artemis Quartet.

The ensemble is committed to highlighting the work of female composers and figures of contemporary music such as Dieter Ammann, Camille Pépin, Wolfgang Rihm and Éric Tanguy. This approach led them to commission Kelly-Marie Murphy to write a Triple Concerto that will be premiered in Paris in February 2022. Another highlight of the 2022 season is a concert cycle “La Belle Saison” around female composers who are dear to them.

Trio Sōra is in residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac, Le Dimore Del Quartetto, ProQuartet-CEMC, and is supported by the Boubo-Music Foundation, the Günther Caspar Foundation, Spedidam, Pleyel, the CNM, the Ile de France region as part of the FoRTE scheme, and the music patronage of the Swiss Life Foundation.

Amanda Favier plays a Matteo Goffriler violin (1723) and Angèle Legasa, a Giulio Cesare Gigli ‘cello (1767), instrument generously lent by the Boubo-Music Foundation.

Trio Sōra appeared at Wellhayes in February 2019 and produced a CD of the Beethoven Trios in Autumn 2020 to significant critical acclaim. For this concert they will be playing the Brahms Trio n.1 op.8 in B major and the Schubert Trio n.1 op.99 in B-flat major.
