Coastal Specialities – Discover the perfect present from the Somerset and Exmoor Coast – Cupcakes, Oysters, Apple Juice, Gin, Wine, Cider, Coffee and More!

The Hinkley Tourism Action Partnership have just released the first of six new itineraries exploring the Somerset/Exmoor Coast.  This new guide is exclusively for those who want a relaxed, fun shopping experience and a tasty, treat filled day out for all the family.

Ten coastal producers feature each offering unique present ideas; award-winning cupcakes, teas, artisanal spirits, bespoke marshmallows, personalised wine or cider tours, oyster gift boxes, bread baking workshops and much more.  Click here to find out about some of the best local delicacies, many award winning, and where to get them.

We asked the businesses why their products are so special and Gemma from Torre Cider had this to say “My partner and I took over Torre cider 8 years ago and the farm and cider has gone from strength to strength.  We pride ourselves in making a hand made, traditional product right here where we live with our trees and apples.  Nothing goes into our cider apart from pressed apple, grown right here, you cannot get any more natural or local than that!”

Second generation winegrower from the Awty family, Ned said, “We have thriving UK-wide direct online sales but what we love best is welcoming visitors, and sharing our wines in our idyllic tranquil vineyard where they are grown.  It’s an unspoilt, uncommercial kind of place that just happens to grow international award-winning dry white wines. We have private spots across the vineyard for people to try the wines at leisure.  A Somerset secret!”

Becky Wright, the Distiller, at Dryad Gin said, “Our gin has such a magical woodland feel to it, it carries the spirit of The Quantock Hills and enraptures all the surrounding beauty.  I hope to welcome your readers to a further tasting or botanical walk.  We have wonderful cocktail cards which accompany the gin all named after local places it really is such a lovely take home gift,”

Author Nell Barrington concluded “I am a huge fan of local food and drink it has been fascinating researching all the different producers that we have right here on the coast.  There were so many more that could have been included so am sure we will do a follow up.  I don’t like shopping at the best of times so wanted to create a guide to make it really easy to buy presents and unusual gifts and vouchers that could be sent to friends and family to remind them of Somerset and Exmoor.”
