Exmoor played host to an inspiring celebration of local food talent on Saturday 15th November, bringing together creativity, passion, and a shared love of the region’s exceptional produce. It was a day filled with innovation and skill, shining a spotlight on the next generation of chefs who are already making their mark on our vibrant food scene.
The Talented Finalists
Our showcase featured three remarkable young chefs who impressed with their imagination, technique, and dedication to using local ingredients:
- Lauren Lewis – Aspiring Chef, Somerset Larder
- Maddie Kennealy – Young Chef, South Molton Community College
- Blake Jennings – Young Chef, West Somerset Community College
Each finalist received a beautifully handcrafted award, presented by Rachel Gilmour, Tiverton & Minehead MP, in recognition of their achievements.
Incredible Opportunities Ahead
To help further their culinary journeys, all three finalists have been offered two fantastic experiences:
- A dedicated day with the expert team at Somerset Larder
- The chance to cook for a high-profile dinner, showcasing their competition dishes and preparing delicious canapés for distinguished guests
These opportunities will provide invaluable insight into professional kitchens and allow our young chefs to shine even brighter.
Thank You to our Judges and Sponsors
A special thank-you goes to our chef judges, Rob Marshall and Phil Trevett from Somerset Larder, for generously sharing their expertise and encouragement.
We are also incredibly grateful to our sponsors: Bidfood UK, The Sausage Man, Butlin’s, and The BTC Trust, whose support helps nurture Exmoor’s future culinary leaders.
What a powerful reminder of the creativity and talent flourishing across Exmoor. We’re excited to follow the journeys of these exceptional young chefs and can’t wait to see where their passion for local food takes them next.
