Press Release
Exmoor Day is Almost Here!
This Saturday, 19th October, marks an important day for Exmoor and we celebrate 70 years since its designation as a National Park in 1954. It’s a moment to reflect on everything that makes Exmoor special and to honour its unique landscapes, wildlife, and the community that supports it. This year is even more significant, as we also commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949, the landmark legislation that paved the way for the creation of our National Parks.
Emma Thomasson, Chief Executive of Visit Exmoor, says: “Exmoor Day is such an exciting day in our calendar – it’s the day we all come together to celebrate this fabulously special and unique place. October 19th marks 70 amazing years since Exmoor became a National Park. We’re asking everyone – residents, businesses, and visitors – to join the celebrations and share what makes Exmoor special to you. What are you and your business doing to commemorate this milestone? Let us know and be sure to tag Visit Exmoor!”
