Kilve

Kilve is located at the northern end of the Quantocks, halfway between Minehead and Bridgwater. Kilve is a picturesque village consisting of 3 settlements. Here you will find the ruins of the old Chantry, founded in 1329 and once used for storing barrels of spirits smuggled in to Kilve Pill. 

Kilve Beach is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a favourite spot for geologists with its spectacular rock formations and fossils, including ammonites and reptile remains. Removing fossils is prohibited.

The shoreline is mostly rocky, at low tide you’ll find lots of little rockpools to explore. There is a large grassy area alongside the beach to enjoy picnics.

Enjoy a spot of lunch at The Hood Arms, a historic 17th Century coaching inn, serving good food and local ales. They are also dog friendly.
