Twenty Great Picnic Spots

There’s something about eating ‘al fresco’ that makes even the humble sandwich taste better. And with our current spell of a great weather, there really is no better place to picnic than here on Exmoor.

Whether it’s a delicious dinner a deux with a smart picnic hamper and champagne flutes, a ham and cheese roll on an old towel or a noisy group of adults and children sharing sausages and scones, we have a number of great locations that will lend your outdoor meal that added zing.

The stunning views from Porlock, Winsford or Countisbury Hill will take your breath, if not your appetite, away. Or perhaps sit beside an ancient bridge overlooking a shady river at Tarr Steps, Robbers Bridge, Watersmeet or Doone Valley. At Landacre you may have too guard your snacks from inquisitive ponies.  Wimbleball Lake’s serene outlook adds an extra dimension to your digestion. You can gaze out to sea at Lee Bay or Heddon’s Mouth or go for a full on sumptuous sandy feast on Minehead Beach.

There are hundreds of places to choose from. Here’s 20 to get you started……  Exmoor Picnic Spots
