Local Victorian entrepreneurs spotting a new health fad organised for a series of tunnels to be hand carved through Ilfracombe’s rocky hillside to provide discreet bathing as an aid to a hearty lifestyle. The famous Tunnels Beaches opened in 1823 and were a huge tourist attraction. Now however, the Tunnels Beaches host beautiful outdoor weddings. What would the Victorian’s have said?!
