Exmoor welder creates statue in tribute to NHS

A Exmoor welder has created a status of a nurse as a tribute to NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandamic. Pete Henson placed a 1.8 metre piece near Wheddon Cross, Exmoor, after being inspired by World War One centenary statues.

Mr Henson said he wanted to “make a point, they’re (NHS) are doing so much for us, lets do a little bit for them.”

He had some help from one of his customers to install the statue. The customer suggested they call the nurse, ‘Nurse Amy’ after a nurse who had recently looked after them.
