Public Footpath & Bridleway Closures

Please see below a number of public footpath and bridleway closures. These have been added at different times so please see the maps for dates of initial closure.

South West Coast Path

Please take note that approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) of the South West Coast Path is closed for a further 21 days from today (22/03/22). The closure is from DOGSWORTHY COMBE NEAR DESOLATE TO CULBONE CHURCH due to many trees blocking the route, severe damage to the surface of the paths and work to repair the damage. This temporary closure includes Public Footpaths 220FP5 & 220FP31, Parish of Countisbury AND Public Footpath WL17/17, Parish of Oare and a stretch of permitted path which is part of the Coast Path is also closed.

There is an alternative route for walkers via Dogsworthy Cottage, County Gate, Broomstreet and Silcombe shown in blue on the attached notice. The route is signed on the ground with the Coast Path acorn.

Due to the scale of the works required to restore the path surface in several locations, we foresee this closure being in place for several weeks. However, we will reopen as soon the work is complete and it is safe to do so.

Public Bridleway WL15/14 and Public Footpath WL15/8 Monksilver are closed for a further for 21 days as multiple trees have fallen across the bridleway. This is part of the Coleridge Way. There is no off road route but an alternative route can be followed along Birchanger Lane. Please see the updated closure notice (link below) which covers both of these paths.

Please note: Unfortunately, due to the scale of the work required to reinstate this bridleway – there is the possibility of a 6 month closure, more information in the coming weeks.

Please take note that Public Footpath WL6/2, Cutcombe is closed from today for 21 days as a large tree has fallen across the footpath. There is no alternative route available.
