In the beautiful harbour town of Watchet, we are situated in between Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We on the West Somerset coastline overlooking the Bristol channel, close to Taunton, Bridgwater and Minehead we are 30 minutes from the M5.

The Watchet Visitor Centre and Boat Museum is a shining example of what community-led regeneration can achieve. In 2014 long and in depth discussions asking ‘What does Watchet need for a stronger future?’ with a huge cross section of local people led by social enterprise Onion Collective CIC, resulted in the clear conclusion that better tourism provision was needed in order to build resilience and to help future proof Watchet. And so we now have this wonderful new facility for you to enjoy. Built by community collaboration, volunteers, grant funding from EDF’s Hinkley Point C Section 106 monies and Trusthouse Charitable Foundation and a Community Asset Transfer of land from the District Council to the community. This is what communities can do when we work together.
