Doone Country is based around the small hamlet of Malmsmead on the Badgworthy Water.
Doone Country is based around the small hamlet of Malmsmead on the Badgworthy Water. This area was the setting for the Lorna Doone story written by RD Blackmore in 1869. A delightful 4.5 mile return walk upstream from Malmsmead takes you to Cloud Farm where you can get refreshments. Continuing upstream brings you to the water-slide where the Lank Combe Water meets the Badgworthy Water. Further upstream brings you to the site of a medieval village and the possible site of where the Doone’s lived.
