It is widely known that buying fresh, local and seasonal produce means we are able to get the most nutritious value from the food we eat. It tends to taste better too.
Farmers markets and farm shops are the best places to stock up on local goodies. You can find them across Greater Exmoor and surrounding towns and villages.

Farthings Farm Shop (01398 323878) in Dulverton doubles up as a café serving breakfast from 8am and lunches every day until 3pm, all year round. The sausages and bacon come from the shop’s own Kendle Farm.
Pauline Takle who runs Farthings Farm shop said: “I often take orders from the shop for people to have meat boxes delivered here for them to pick up. My husband Robert and son-in-law Tim will deliver it from the farm. It’s a real family business and mostly word of mouth.
“We also cater for vegetarians with local salad boxes in summer and organic vegetables all year round, which we get delivered fresh every day. Our vegetable quiche and soup is also very popular.”
