Watchet

Welcome to Watchet

Watchet is a friendly, vibrant harbour town on the West Somerset coast.

The town looks out across the Bristol Channel with views along the unspoilt coast and across to Wales. It is set against the green backdrop of Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is an excellent centre for exploring both. The cliffs and shoreline either side of Watchet Harbour offer fascinating geological interest, fossils can be readily found.

The town has been a busy sea port for more than 1000 years. Three museums, Watchet Market House Museum, Radio Museum and Watchet Boat Museum provide insights into the town’s maritime heritage.  Steam trains, on the restored West Somerset Railway can be boarded from Watchet station.

An attractive pleasure marina now fills the ancient harbour. The town’s other attractions include art galleries, local craft shops, a weekly market, restaurants and prize-winning real ale and cider pubs.
