Join Ione, a National Park ranger for a walk that takes in the ancient routes cut into the rocks that were traversed by pack-horse ponies carrying the silver lead ore down to the crushers and the harbour at Combe Martin. The side of the valley of Combe Martin was mined for its high quality silver lead, the highest quality of any silver mined in England. Queen Victoria had items made from Combe Martin silver. An adit is clearly visible in the rock face overlooking Combe Martin Bay. This south-facing side of the valley was also famous for its strip-farming fields used for strawberry growing. On the northern-facing slopes there were outcrops of limestone which were quarried and one of the old lime kilns still stands prominently in a field overlooking the village.

This walk is hilly and includes some of the South West Coast Path giving some excellent views to reward your efforts.
