The Visit Exmoor website is the official tourism portal for the area and is highly ranked in all the main search engines. It is also the accommodation link from the National Park Authority website. Visitors to the site, on average, spend over 4 minutes using the site, which is very high compared to the average time spent looking at a website. Advertising on the site also provides you with a powerful inward link to your own website boosting your position in search returns.

More and more people are using the internet and new forms of technology to research holidays and as a result fewer businesses are supporting printed publications. However there is still a market for such publications which are used by some visitors and businesses.

Within Exmoor there are currently three opportunities:

Exmoor Visitor

The Exmoor Visitor is a free visitor newspaper. Whilst primarily aimed at providing information to visitors in the area it is sent to people making enquiries in advance and over 100,000 copies are distributed across the region. The Exmoor Visitor is produced by the West Somerset Free Press on behalf of the Exmoor National Park Authority. For advertising call the WSFP on 01984 632731.

North Devon & Exmoor Guide

North Devon + will again be producing a North Devon and Exmoor brochure which in 2016 will include a specific guide to Exmoor. For full details and prices please download a rate card here.

Somerset Tourism

It is understood that the Somerset Tourism Association will once again be producing a Somerset brochure in 2014 covering the county and beyond. Please visit their website in due course for details.

Things to do leaflet (back to top)

This leaflet was created by Exmoor Tourism to take the place of the previous Exmoor Coast and Country full-sized brochure, produced by West Somerset Council. This leaflet is A3 folded to 1/3 A4 (DL).  It gives information on things to do and places to see as well as links to the Visit Exmoor website for accommodation. The leaflet uses QR codes throughout for quick access on smartphones to local information. It is distributed locally and can be used freely by accommodation providers.

The Exmoor Tourist Association regularly attend local, regional and national shows and exhibitions, with support from ETP partners and sometimes attending in partnership with other organisations. In 2012 for the first time a European show in Utrecht was also attended.

Festivals (back to top)

ET has supported the walking festival, which helps promote this area for its main tourism market. The festival is now self-financing. It introduces walkers to Exmoor and they then return with more confidence to do their own walks at other times.

The Coast Festival has run from 2014. In 2015 ET raised funding towards continuing the festival until 2016. it is hoped that this festival will also become self-financing after that. It runs over the May bank Holiday and attracts families to enjoy events based along our stunning coastline.
