Put down your car keys and cares but bring a sense of humor and love of the county to enjoy our Idyllic 18th century farmhouse for a quality real farm Bed and Breakfast Exmoor experience, staying on our national award winning beautiful Organic Exmoor hill farm, hidden in a peaceful valley, 500 acres on the National Trust Holnicote Estate, between Minehead 3miles and Porlock 5miles, with Dunster Castle close by to visit, and only a mile from quaint Selworthy thatched village .
Arrive up the narrow one way farm lane lined with cow parsley and primroses to be greeted by the ducks and chickens wandering freely around the pretty five bar gate entrance.
Start your day with our organic and local produce superb breakfasts using our own home made by Roger Gloucester Old Spot sausages, bacon, and fruit from the kitchen garden, fresh baked bread, Penny’s home mixed muesli, also fresh herb scrambled eggs, and veggie options – guests say it’s the best and they can taste the difference. We are Rick Stein Food Heroes, and have won many food awards over the years.
There are direct walks from our door to the heather moor, so great to explore, as our guests you can wander the circular farm trail a short 45 minute walk, and if wanted continue on for direct access to longer walks . The South West coast path runs over the top of our farm with stunning views in all directions from Selworthy Beacon overlooking the sea to Wales and Dunkery Beacon and on to Minehead to the east in the distance – plenty of places to walk to for refreshments on the way. We farm cattle, sheep and a few pigs, and believe in conservation. Our Exmoor ponies live wild with the Red Deer and buzzards not to mention skylarks, swallows, and the occasional barn owl are seen.
After a day spent exploring return for a welcome cup of tea, or glass of wine (do bring your own), either enjoying the sitting room log fire or to sit under the copper beech tree by the stream,or maybe relax in the farm outdoor Hot Tub, watching the ducks dabble and the peacocks parade. Our dogs and cats welcome other four legged friends who visit.
Exmoor National Park welcomes well behaved, recently wormed dogs kept under close control – as do we. Please bring own dogs clean bed.
We sleep a maximum of 6 guests in 3 Laura Ashley decorated bedrooms – All Rooms have primo cotton linen, and towels, with organic toiletries, Named after local trees there is; Walnut, a large super king double with ensuite shower. Oak, a large king double with luxury ensuite bathroom with slipper bath and shower. Willow, a twin bedded ( 2 single beds at each end of the room) with private bathroom, antique large bath and shower, next door.
Children welcome in B&B if over 8 years old. There is also our Self catering farm cottage accommodation just 5mins walk from the farm house, sleeping 1 to 6 persons, should your family have smaller children .
