Monksilver

Welcome to Monksilver

A small picturesque village on the border of Exmoor National Park at the foot of the Brendon Hills surrounded by woodland.

Entering the National Park Monksilver is a small village of less than 100 residents (with the smallest Parish Council in the country!) with a good local pub. The name simply means Monks Wood taking its name from the Latin word ‘Silve’ meaning woodland.

The quiet lanes and extensive Rights of Way offer many opportunities to explore the local area and the Coleridge Way runs passes through the village. All Saints church incorporates a 12 century window, whilst most of the building is 13/14th century, dedicated in 1449 and mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
